We are seeking a senior software engineer with expertise in backend systems, databases, and cloud platforms. This role blends hands-on backend engineering with higher-level responsibilities in design, architecture, and team leadership. You'll play a key role in shaping solutions, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software.
This role requires strong technical depth combined with the ability to design scalable systems, mentor engineers, and collaborate across teams to deliver business-critical solutions.
Responsibilities include leading the design and development of backend services and APIs using modern backend frameworks, designing and implementing scalable backend systems, contributing to system architecture discussions, designing and building client-facing and internal APIs, writing clean, maintainable, and performant code, designing and optimizing solutions using relational and non-relational databases, adopting and championing AI-assisted development tools, partnering with QA to deliver quality features, ensuring sufficient unit test coverage, supporting and mentoring junior engineers, collaborating with product managers, contributing to Agile development processes, guiding junior engineers, championing best practices in CI/CD, containerization, and observability/monitoring, contributing to technical decision-making and process improvements, and participating in the hiring and interview process.
Qualifications include 5+ years of professional experience as a software engineer, strong proficiency in backend service development, strong hands-on experience with relational and non-relational databases, experience with distributed systems, proven experience with AWS or other cloud platforms, strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Git, and containerization, experience embedding security and compliance best practices into backend and API design, strong understanding of system design principles, proficiency in leveraging and evaluating AI-assisted coding tools, experience implementing observability practices, strong experience in Agile development, and experience writing and maintaining unit and integration tests.
Preferred qualifications include media & entertainment industry experience, experience with infrastructure-as-code, exposure to multiple backend frameworks, and ability to evaluate emerging technologies.
Soft skills include strong communication and collaboration skills, ability to mentor and guide junior engineers effectively, analytical thinking and problem-solving ability, proactive ownership of projects and deliverables, adaptability in fast-changing environments, and ability to balance hands-on contributions with mentoring and influencing technical direction across the team.

This role is based in Los Angeles, California and the base pay range for this role is $161,500.00 - $190,000.00 annually. Actual amounts will vary depending on education, skills, experience, and geographic location.
