Job Description
Reddit is on the lookout for a dynamic and analytical Senior Manager of Technology Financial Planning and Analysis to join our dedicated Technology FP&A team, focusing specifically on managing Cloud Hosting expenditures. In this critical role, you will provide essential financial insights and strategic foresight to both Finance and Technology leadership, ensuring clear visibility into hosting costs and understanding the factors driving changes. You will play a key role in integrating hosting expenses into Reddit's budgeting and forecasting processes, aligning closely with Engineering to monitor and validate cost-saving initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Forecasting & Budgeting
- Develop advanced financial models to project hosting expenditures, support long-term financial planning, and negotiate strategic contracts.
- Conduct scenario analyses to evaluate implications of scaling, product launches, and contract commitments.
- Lead monthly variance analyses comparing actual spend against budgets and forecasts across various lines of business.
- Create standardized reporting packages that highlight trends and their impact on Reddit's profit and loss statements.
- Identify and implement cost optimization initiatives while developing effective tracking mechanisms.
- Build return on investment models to back cloud-related investments critical to our strategic objectives.
- Cost Optimization & Governance
- Utilize industry best practices and prior experiences to proactively suggest efficiency initiatives to our engineering teams.
- See savings initiatives through to completion by creating accountability frameworks within Engineering.
- Ensure strict governance on resource tagging and allocation to enhance transparency and accountability.
- Act as a trusted financial advisor to Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and cloud platform teams, offering insights on budgeting, unit economics, and financial strategy.
- Analytics & Tools
- Develop and maintain dashboards that serve as Finance's authoritative source for hosting cost metrics.
- Utilize billing tools to ensure accuracy in reporting.
- Remain current with industry trends and regulatory changes pertaining to cloud technologies, incorporating relevant insights into our financial strategies.
- Cost of Revenue (COR) Ownership
- Assume full ownership of the COR forecasts and manage the weekly COR documentation, assuring accuracy and timely updates.
- Provide clear weekly insights into changes in hosting costs, articulating the drivers behind any variances to Finance and Technology leadership.
- Collaborate with Accounting during financial close to reconcile COR actuals with invoices and financial records.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, Technology Finance, or Cost of Revenue management.
- Experience in negotiating contracts with major cloud service providers such as AWS and GCP.
- Proven expertise in managing Cost of Revenue or Hosting budget files, with experience explaining changes to leadership.
- Hands-on familiarity with AWS and GCP billing tools (e.g., Cost Explorer, CUR, Budgets).
- Proficient in building dashboards, data modeling, and financial reporting.
- Strong skills in financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis, with a track record of accuracy in managing hosting budgets against actuals.
- Demonstrated ability to track and report cost savings from optimization initiatives and commitment programs.
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills with a capacity to collaborate with Finance, Engineering, and Accounting teams.
- Preferred background in professional services (consulting, Big 4, or advisory) with exposure to structured financial processes or cost governance.

The base pay range for this position is: $167,500 - $234,500 USD.
