The Social Enterprise Manager oversees all functions and staff of New Life Center’s (NLC) social enterprise thrift store, Hope’s Closet. They maintain a social enterprise business that is integrated with and provides value to all areas of NLC. They maintain a positive culture, provide training for staff and volunteers. They work closely with the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) to ensure store operations maximize sales and implement the strategic plan for Hope’s and create a physical space that becomes a point of pride for the agency. This manager maintains standards for merchandising, inventory, expense controls and operating costs. They balance profitability with the consistent provision of donated resources to NLC and its participants.
Hours of Operation: Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30 am - 5:00 pm
Roles and Responsibilities
Supervision
1. Provide training and supervision to Hope’s Closet store attendants, volunteers, and assigned workforce individuals.
2. Coordinate recruitment, hiring, and termination of employees with New Life Center HR Manager.
3. Conduct regular staff, and one-on-one supervision meetings to ensure high quality performance.
4. Work with HR Manager to maintain job descriptions, and conduct performance evaluations, of employees and take documented disciplinary actions as needed in compliance with New Life Center policies and procedures.
Essential Functions
Thrift Store Services
1. Work with the CSO to develop and implement strategies to increase Hope’s Closet profile in the community and increase revenue.
2. Meet or exceed established sales goal- increasing annual sales by 12%.
3. Operate Hope’s Closet within the monthly budget.
4. Provide ongoing staff feedback and complete annual performance evaluations.
5. Ensure POS system/internet and security cameras are always operating effectively.
6. Proof and approve all social media posts prior to publication.
7. Resolve customer/donor issues and provide comprehensive information regarding Hope’s Closet and NLC mission.
8. Maintain professional relationships with customers, vendors, community members and donors.
9. Ensure customers, donors and participants experience high levels of customer service.
10. Maintain and develop cooperative working relationships with NLC staff and volunteers to enhance coordination of services to NLC and its residents.
11. Formulate pricing policies on merchandise according to requirements for profitability of resale operations.
12. Implement and plan all logistics of store operation including, but not limited to, calendar, workflow, workstation tools, supplies and equipment.
13. Maintain store appearance to positively reflect the mission and values of NLC.
14. Utilize community resources for donation pick-ups.
15. Maintain the assets of Hope's Closet (real property, fixtures, merchandise).
16. Conduct end-of-year store inventory.

Thrift Store Operations
1. Supervise lead associate who is responsible for daily, routine store operations.
2. Ensure cash deposits are made and proper related paperwork is completed and turned in.
3. Maintain records and reports for the finance department and CSO.
4. Maintain petty cash records, employee time sheets, employee files, and expenses related to store operations.
5. Maintain systems to provide store security and safety.
6. Collaborate and work closely with the volunteer services manager to ensure volunteer needs are communicated and records are provided for volunteer contributions.
7. Evaluate practices and procedures throughout the facility to promote safety and security in all areas. Train each employee and ensure compliance with all safety and security measures.
8. Meet regularly with the CSO and provide store outcomes.
Agency Management
1. Participate as an active team member of the Community Development Department Team including attending department meetings, Board meetings, and other relevant meetings as assigned.
2. Report all emergencies, concerns, and organizational needs to the CSO.
3. Actively contribute to, and uphold the practices of, New Life Center’s trauma informed environment.
4. Interact professionally with customers, guests, volunteers, and community representatives.
5. Share in the responsibility for cleanliness and appearance of the entire store.
Other
1. Help in building a culture of cooperation and collaboration among Hope’s Closet staff, interns, and volunteers.
2. Facilitate staff meetings as scheduled.
3. Support and adhere to all policies regarding participant and program confidentiality.
4. Actively contribute to New Life Center’s trauma informed philosophy.
5. Participate in scheduled agency-wide meetings and events as assigned.
6. Perform other duties as needed.
