Job Summary : Tenaska Marketing Ventures (TMV) is seeking a driven and highly motivated
Natural Gas Trader to join our team in Irving, TX. The final title will reflect the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. This role is responsible for buying and selling natural gas across multiple pipelines, managing TMV's controlled assets including storage, transportation, and energy agreements, and leveraging market opportunities to generate value for customers and the company. The trader will assess risk and optionality, optimize physical and financial positions using tools such as futures, swaps, and options, and develop specialized solutions for a diverse customer base.
The position also includes monitoring pipeline operations, preparing accurate transaction documentation in TMV's Gas Management System, and collaborating closely with Originators and other Traders to build and maintain business. Success in this role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, adaptability in a fast-paced market environment, and the ability to communicate insights effectively across teams while delivering results that maximize value for clients and TMV.
Location : Onsite in Irving, TX
Essential Job Functions : - Execute natural gas trades across multiple pipelines to generate arbitrage value for TMV and customers.
- Manage and optimize TMV's controlled assets including storage, transportation, Asset Management Agreements, Energy Management Agreements, and toggle supply/market.
- Evaluate risk and optionality, leveraging physical and financial tools such as futures, swaps, and options to maximize asset performance.
- Develop specialized solutions for customers including natural gas producers, utilities, pipelines, power generators, and large industrial users.
- Collaborate with Originators and Traders across regions to build business, share insights, and coordinate trading strategies.
- Monitor pipeline operations and market conditions daily and communicate relevant updates to internal stakeholders.
- Prepare accurate deal documentation and ensure all transactions are correctly recorded in TMV's Gas Management System (GMS).
Basic Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting or engineering
- Gas or power industry experience (3-5 years)
- Structured products experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Office Outlook
- Reliable, predictable and dependable attendance
- Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate
- Travel: 5-20%
Preferred Requirements: - Master's degree in business, finance or related field
- Hands-on experience in gas scheduling and trading
- Strong understanding of pipeline tariff structures and energy market operations
- Analytical and detail oriented with a strong problem-solving mindset
- Adaptable and proactive in rapidly changing markets and business priorities
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills across teams
