Our mission is to implement federal and state regulations to protect human health and the environment while allowing the environmentally sound operations of industrial, agricultural, commercial, and governmental activities vital to a prosperous economy. We issue air, water, and solid and hazardous waste permits that restrict discharges to environmentally safe levels. Staff members inspect and monitor regulated entities; provide compliance and technical assistance; monitor and assess air, land, and water quality; use enforcement actions as necessary to ensure compliance; and respond to incidents involving spills to soil or waters of the state.
Role Overview :
• The position will be the expert in developing/editing permit and post closure approval letter templates related to groundwater, geology, and landfill gases, related to solid waste land disposal facilities.
• The position will work directly with permit managers to develop/write permit and post closure approval letter requirements for all aspects of groundwater, geology, and explosive gasses related to solid waste land disposal facilities.
• The position will peer review all permits and post closure approval letters for all aspects of groundwater, geology, and explosive gasses related to solid waste land disposal facilities.
• The position will review all aspects of groundwater, geology, and explosive gasses related to hazardous waste and solid waste land disposals and confined feeding operations for documents assigned to the position.
• The position will peer review letters and memos related to hazardous waste and solid waste land disposal facilitiies and confined feeding operations.
• The position will need: to be a good technical writer and editor, have a strong background in hydrogeology, able to interpret rules and regulations pertaining to geology and groundwater, and have a good understanding of groundwater statistics.
• The position may need to work more than 7.5 hours/day if field work demands, but will be able to flex it out other days so as not to exceed the 75 hours in a two-week period.
• The position will need to effectively speak with internal and external Stakeholders on subjects concerning hydrogeology, statistics, and regulations.
Driving a state vehicle is required for this position.
Salary Statement :
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $67,314.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
