Overview:

YMCA Camp Tumbleson Lake is seeking a Maintenance Specialist who has the skills to help beautify, maintain, repair, clean and bolster our picturesque overnight camp nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains near Ward, CO. You'll be part of a team who supports camp by maintaining a clean, safe, and enjoyable environment. From helping to assist other maintenance staff to setting up a program space, you will play a crucial role in keeping camp awesome.

 

Our maintenance specialists are friendly faces, collaborators and champions for our campers, staff, and parents. You will be a source of positivity, helping us all create a strong, supportive community at camp.

Responsibilities:
  • Works alongside 3-4 other maintenance specialists and reports to the Senior Director of Properties.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention, and emergencies.
  • Assists in the care and daily maintenance for the needs of camp, including program equipment, grounds & facility maintenance and construction projects.
  • Ensures that all safety-related projects and needs are completed in a timely manner.
  • Assists the Senior Director of Properties with Colorado state licensing and ACA standards visits as needed.
  • Maintain a professional presence for YMCA Camp Tumbleson Lake through appropriate staff and camper interactions and adheres to associations and camps codes of conduct. 
  • Communicate all issues to the appropriate channels.
  • Be able to take care of on-call emergencies after hours.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of YMCA issues and records.
  • Maintaining friendly, professional relationships with staff, participants, and community members.
  • Practices positive guidance and preventative discipline techniques with natural consequences.
  • Required to attend and complete staff meetings, trainings, and all mandatory licensing required trainings.
  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.
  • Attends required abuse risk management training.
  • Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers.
  • Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • 21+ years old.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Previous relevant experience preferred.
  • CPR/AED, first aid certifications and child abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
  • Must have knowledge of basic hand and power tools.
  • Must be able to stand, walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather as needed.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
  • Must be able to climb ladders of 10 feet or more.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks given by Senior Director of Properties.
